Firewood and Logs – Frequently Asked Questions

Our Firewood and logs are top quality – we are confident you won’t find better. Heres are a few questions we are frequently asked but if you have any other queries please get in touch. Your feedback and questions may be helpful to others – so let us know.

We supply loose-loaded full cubic metre sizes, because that is a consistent industry standard. It doesn’t change with the water content of the logs. Also don’t be fooled by people offering you cheaper rates, but you only receive smaller 0.75m³ bags.

Free delivery within 10 mile radius of our yard (Garford nr Abingdon).
We deliver free to these postcodes: OX1, OX2, OX3, OX4, OX5, OX11, OX12, OX13, OX14, OX18, OX28, OX29, OX33 SN6 (Ashbury, Shrivenham, Watchfield), SN7 (all), RG17 (Great Shefford), RG20 (East & West Ilsley, Chaddlesworth, Brightwalton).
Otherwise a small delivery cost will be incurred. We also now deliver 0.9m³ ‘Bulk Bags’ to anywhere in mainland England and Wales. Call us about free delivery if you are in doubt. See map for details.

We offer quality hardwood (primarily beech, oak and ash) firewood and logs (unless specified). Beware of others specifying premium hardwoods but upon closer inspection actually delivering inferior alternatives with lower BTU wood mixed in).

We were Oxfordshire’s first Woodsure approved supplier. This gives you peace of mind with DEFRA approved quality assurance. All of our wood is barn stored and constantly monitored with moisture reading devices, with all wood leaving the yard between 10 – 20% moisture content. Our logs are very well seasoned and high in BTUs (British thermal units is the measurement of heat produced from timber).

All of our local deliveries (see map) are loaded loose onto our tipper trucks (see here for Oxfordshire delivery requirements). We can tip very close to where the logs are to be stacked and offer a competitive stacking service.

England and Wales deliveries are delivered in bulk bags on a pallet (see here for UK delivery access requirements).

Yes, all of the firewood we sell is suitable for Open Log Fires, Wood burners and Fire Pits. Our wood is split to approx 25cm in length.

We recommend you store the wood in a ventilated, rain free position. It is important that air can circulate around the wood to prevent damp. We supply our own bespoke log stores – ask us for details. We also offer quality kiln dried kindling neatly packed in small bags (for ease of starting fires).

We come across many fireplace and wood burner installation companies in the course of our business. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Andy Yates http://www.woodburnerfitter.com. His business is HETAS registered and in our experience, comes highly recommended by everyone who has used him. He can be contacted by email at andy@nullwoodburnerfitter.com

We also work closely with Manor House Stoves. Their showroom in Garsington features over 80 stoves, many available to use. Their superb knowledge of supplying and fitting stoves has been gained through 40 years of business.
